New to St. Philip’s?

Welcome to St. Philip’s Church. Our worship and other life and work as a church draw our attention to God, to the spiritual journey and to a faith community joined to Christ's ongoing mission of repairing the world. If you have already walked through one of our many doors, we are very glad to welcome you as a recent arrival. Whether you arrived by coming in off the street, attending a service, planning a wedding or other event, going to a forum, or community meeting, or 12-step group, or simply “church shopping”—welcome! Whether you have been attending regularly for a while or are very new we want to say how glad we are that you have made a connection with us.

Most of us are searching for something larger than ourselves—for connections that are genuine and meaningful. The spiritual journey you are on has put you in contact with this faith community. We invite you to explore further. There are many avenues by which to discover a warm caring community and a place of belonging. At each of these—or at other opportunities you find here for spiritual growth—you will be warmly welcomed, and shown full respect for where you are in your faith journey.

Here’s how to connect:

1. Attend our Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. and the coffee hour afterward. There you will meet the clergy and others new and old.

2. While there, fill out a Welcome card and leave it at St. Philip’s.

3. Or e-mail stphilips06@aol.com or call 718-745-2505 to let us know that you are interested in learning more about St. Philip’s, or specific activities or ministries or ways to get involved, or that you’re not sure what you’re looking for but would like to just talk with someone.

St. Philip’s Church welcomes all people into the life of this parish and to embody the unconditional love that God has shown to us through Jesus Christ. All are welcome, no matter where you come from in your spiritual journey, and no matter your age, race, national origins, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, economic status, abilities or challenges. It is our purpose to welcome everyone with open arms and open hearts.

St. Philip’s Church has a tradition of welcome from which our broad understanding of membership has evolved. Every person who wants to be a member of this community—and who offers support for the ministries here by their prayers, presence, time and resources—can be a member. Everyone, period. Further paths of membership, such as baptism, confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation are open, too, and we’ll help you find the right one(s) for you.

Again, welcome to St. Philip’s.
